The Uists and St Kilda

Out of all the Scottish Islands, the one that had captured my imagination most was St Kilda, a remote land to the far west of the Uists, a land that was not so long ago inhabited but now lies deserted (apart from the MOD establishment) some National trust Workers and now a day trip destination being offered by Birding Ecosse!

This long weekend will include birding on the beautiful Uists, at a fantastic time of year for migrants with the St Kilda scheduled into one of the days on the Islands, it will be a flexible programme owing to weather conditions at the time giving the maximum chance of achieving a landing on the island.

The Price for this amazing trip is £1395 per person based on 2017 prices (including the St Kilda Trip) and this will be a fully inclusive trip (excluding alcoholic drinks, items of a personal nature and personal insurance) below a brief run down of the draft Itinerary:

Thu 30 Aug Arrive at Grant Arms Hotel, Grantown on Spey.  Meet and greet and group Dinner at Hotel

Friday 31 Aug Depart Grant Arms and Head for Uig, birding en-route before boarding the evening sailing to Lochmaddy.

Sat01/Sun02/Mon03 Sep 2018 Birding North Uist/Benbecula/South Uists with  St Kilda one of these days, weather dependant.

Tues 04 Sep Return to Mainland and Night stop in Grant Arms Hotel Grantown on Spey
Wed 05 Sep – Depart Grant Arms after breakfast.

So in total 6 Nights and 5 Days Birding!

Please note that due to landing restrictions on St Kilda, it is sometimes not possible to transfer to the Island.  A refund of the St Kilda portion will only be given if we do not actually sail from Berneray on North Uist (ie if we sail to St Kilda and can only then view from the boat then we will still be deemed to have made the trip and no refund will apply)
