In this new Birding Ecosse Tour we aim to fill a niche! Are you familiar and happy with your camera, its set up and use? Can you do your own editing with your own software?  Are you looking for a tour that cuts out all the unnecessary (and expensive) teaching and just gets you to the subject?  Well that is where we come in.

Over a packed two days we will visit the world renowned “Aviemore Osprey’s Hide” (be warned it is a very early start, pick up at 03:50!)

Day One, we will spend the first part of the  morning in the company of the spectacular Osprey watching and listening to these fantastic birds feeding right before your eyes.  The small lochan in front of the hides are well stocked with fish and the birds know exactly where to find them!  The feed so close sometime the splash as they hit the water can actually hit the hide!  After breakfast (at a local cafe) the Opreys will be followed (weather permitting) with a “walk at the top” of Cairngorm for Ring Ouzel, Ptarmigan, Dotterel and Snow Bunting, (being a local tour guide I have a pass that allows us out of the building complex at the top of Cairngorm where we can follow a designated path in search of our target species.)

Day two involves a boat trip out to the spectacular RSPB Troup Head to view and photograph Puffins, Common and Black Guillemots, Kittiwakes and of course the fantastic Gannets! We then spend the rest of the day on the beautiful Moray coast searching out local breeders such as Corn Bunting, Goosander and the beautiful Eider Duck and of course anything else that enters your view finder!

Seats on these tours will be limited to just three, and will be purely photographic tours, so if you own a camera (DSLR or Mirrorless) have a prime or zoom lens giving at least 300/400mm then this is the tour for you!

 

Thursday – Departure day

Enjoy a long lie before heading down for your last breakfast in the hotel, sit back and look back on the last three days and plan your next visit North!

Three nights Full board (Dinner, Bed and Breakfast)

Delicious packed Lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tea/Coffee morning and afternoon Tuesday and Wednesday.

All transport on birding days

Things to Note:

1 Use of Osprey Hides and Boat Trip to RSPB Troup Head is not bespoke, there will be others not with our group attending.

2. Bad weather, if weather or other any other reason means we cannot carry out the planned excursion to Cairngorm  we will follow a low level day in search for Slavonian Grebe, Black Throated Diver and Red Grouse.  If weather prevents the boat trip to RSPB Troup Head then we shall endeavour to walk out to the colony (around a 1 mile walk) and shoot from the Cliff tops.
